Design Your Happy Place...

With everyone spending more and more time at home with the recent events, people are finding themselves starting to rethink their spaces and how they use it and how it makes them feel. We are in a constant world of change in the design world which can make it challenging and overwhelming for those who don’t like to decorate, don’t like change, or just don’t know what they want but know they want something. As a Designer who works with commercial and residential spaces, the best advice I can offer is find a design that makes you happy and go with it!

If you are not sure what that is, acquire the help of someone who can offer direction and help you to find and sort out options. I love to visit with my clients and listen to their interests, share in their stories of certain items, and get a feel for what they like and what makes them happy. It could be something as simple as color in paint, curtains, décor; there are lots of options to choose from. Maybe it is the texture of a soft fuzzy chair in the forgotten room that given the right location you can crawl into at the end of a busy day with a good book and cozy throw that makes you smile when you enter the room.

Most people already know what it is they are looking for; they are just not quite sure how to get there and sometimes having the reassurance of another person is all they need. You don’t have to spend 100’s or even 1000’s of dollars to create custom designed spaces. Look at what you have, and what you think you might need. Repurpose items from another space of your home. It is great to mix new with old and old with new. At the end of the day, be able to walk into a space that makes you feel at home, makes you feel happy!
